UK Fleets Return to Pre-Covid19 Activity LevelsNews

Research conducted by Quartix, a leading global supplier of vehicle tracking systems, shows UK fleet activity levels returning to normal, following the covid-19 national lockdown period. The UK-based vehicle tracking company provides over 17,500 businesses worldwide with real-time GPS fleet tracking and has been able to closely monitor its customer base during the global pandemic.
Quartix reports encouraging news – its UK fleet customers are now travelling 91 per cent of the ‘norm’, established using fleet data from before the lockdown period. Inevitably, mid-March to April saw a substantial reduction in the distances collectively travelled, as businesses paused activity and followed social distancing protocols. The total mileage dipped as low as 35 per cent over the Easter bank holiday, and 46 per cent in the surrounding weeks of lockdown. However, since April there has been a surge in fleet activity, indicating that businesses have been steadily resuming operations. During Covid-19, Quartix saw an increase in customer preference for self-installed devices across all geographical regions, giving customers increased flexibility on where and when installations take place. Despite the year’s events, Quartix reported customer growth in all markets since 31 December 2019. Its customer base in France and the US rose by 12 per cent and 9 per cent respectively, despite contractions in the volume of new subscriptions during the pandemic. In newer territories across Europe, Quartix saw an 85 per cent increase in vehicle tracking customers.
