Travis Perkins, the UK’s largest builders’ merchant, is celebrating the halfway point of its three-year charity partnership with Alzheimer’s Society and Alzheimer’s Scotland, with customers and colleagues across the business raising over £300,000.

The partnership, voted for by colleagues, is designed to raise vital funds for care, support and ground-breaking research, while also raising awareness of dementia amongst Travis Perkins’ colleagues, customers, and local communities. With one in three people born in the UK today expected to develop dementia, the impact of this work is already being felt across the business and beyond.

So far, fundraising efforts have enabled life-changing support that helps people living with dementia and their carers adjust to their condition and manage it day-to-day.  In fact, the fundraising has meant an equivalent of 362 families receive dementia support. Alongside this, funds also contributed towards pioneering research and community-based initiatives in Scotland.

Colleagues have rallied behind fundraising campaigns such as the Alzheimer’s Society’s Forget Me Not Appeal and taken on an impressive range of challenges, from running marathons and triathlons to organising golf days, comedy nights, and mountain climbs.

Richard Lavin, Managing Director at Travis Perkins said: “We’re incredibly proud of the way our colleagues and customers have embraced this partnership. Dementia touches so many lives, and the passion, creativity and commitment we’ve seen right across our business from colleagues has been inspiring. To have raised over £300,000 already is an amazing achievement, but this is just the start, together we want to make an even bigger difference in the next 18 months.”

Georgie Davies, Corporate Account Manager at Alzheimer’s Society added: “We are incredibly proud of our partnership with Travis Perkins. Raising £300,000 is a fantastic achievement and a testament to the dedication and passion across the business to support people affected by dementia. Thanks to Travis Perkins’ commitment, more families and communities have access to vital support when they need it most, so they don’t have to face dementia alone. It will take a society to help us end the devastation of dementia – thank you Travis Perkins for continuing to stand with us.”

Georgia Jackson, Fundraising & Engagement Officer at Alzheimer’s Scotland also added: “We are incredibly proud to be partnered with Travis Perkins here at Alzheimer Scotland. It is inspiring to see how our combined efforts are creating positive change for those living with dementia and their carers. With over £30K raised in Scotland so far, we would like to take this opportunity to give thanks to each employee and customer who has donated or raised funds. We are so excited to see what else can be achieved during the remainder of the partnership.”

As the partnership with Travis Perkins moves into its second half, priorities include expanding fundraising activity, launching the Dementia Friends initiative within Travis Perkins, and raising further awareness of Alzheimer Scotland’s Stop the Cuts campaign across Scottish stores.
