Selco Builders Warehouse is on course for an award triple header after being heralded for its outstanding workplace culture.

The leading builders merchant is on track to be one of the elite UK big businesses to work for in the ‘Best Companies’ survey as it currently sits in the coveted top 25 for this year following a survey of its workforce.

In addition, it has also been shortlisted for two awards in the prestigious Reward Gateway Engagement Excellence Awards.

Marc Lucock, HR director at Selco, said: “We are fully committed to making the working environment across the entire business as positive and enjoyable as possible for current and future colleagues.

“We have been in the top 25 of the ‘The Best Companies’ list, for companies with more than 2,000 in their workforce, all year and are confident we can remain there ahead of the final results coming in.

“Our colleagues are our greatest asset and to see their direct feedback ensure we will finish in a very high position in the league table when compared to similar sized companies is extremely pleasing.

“There are, of course, still areas for improvement and we will continue to try and enhance the colleague experience at every opportunity, but we are happy with the progress we are making and being in contention for three notable awards is testament to that.”

In the Reward Gateway Engagement Excellence Awards, Selco has been shortlisted for the Best Benefits Campaign for its Rewards Roadshow.

The initiative saw a fully branded double decker Selco bus take to the road to visit 34 branches and the company’s Support Centre to highlight the extensive benefits on offer for being a Selco colleague.

Amongst the interactive zones were the chance to win a bike for cycling the furthest distance on an exercise bike as part of promoting the cycle to work scheme, while extra holiday days were up for grabs in the holiday buy zone.

Other services promoted included Simply Health, retail discounts and Transave UK Savings Scheme, which offers savings programmes and emergency loans at ethical rates.

Marc added: “The Rewards Roadshow was one of our biggest HR campaigns ever and covered thousands of miles in an eight-week period – but it was certainly worthwhile.

“Not only was the bus an eye-catching way for us to communicate with colleagues, it enabled us to showcase and explain directly to them the huge range of benefits available.”

Selco has also been shortlisted for the Most Effective Engagement Communications Strategy at the awards. The results are due to be announced at awards ceremonies in early November.

With hundreds of trade brands always in stock, Selco’s UK branches are firmly focused on helping tradespeople complete their jobs as quickly and effectively as possible.

As well as offering trade services, Selco also has a strong digital presence including Click & Deliver and Click & Collect services and a new app to make life as convenient as possible for tradespeople.
