Electrical test and measurement specialist Martindale Electric has boosted its industrial socket testing offering with the BZ201. Designed for quick and easy testing of single-phase industrial socket wiring, the BZ201 includes both 16A and 32A industrial versions of the classic check plug, fitted with a 230V 16A or 32A plug to BS EN IEC 60309-1.

Wiring faults are instantly indicated by the three bright LEDs, with the tester being able to identify up to 28 fault conditions through the pattern of lit LEDs with clear and simple codes. To make life easier, there is a look up chart on the tester for quick diagnosis of the commonest faults and the BZ201 also checks the mains voltage level, indicating high or low voltage.

Additionally, the BZ201 has an audible sounder to confirm that the wiring is correct. This is particularly useful when checking sockets that are not easily visible or in difficult to access locations. The audible indication can also be used as a basic fuse finder, because when the correct fuse is pulled the buzzer stops. This same buzzer gives instant pass confirmation too.

The BZ201 is built to last. The robust ABS moulded housing gives lasting durability and is maintenance free.

Steve Dunning, MD for Martindale Electric, explains: “Socket testers provide a fast and effective solution for identifying potentially unsafe installations and wiring faults, and can be particularly useful as a service tool for detecting unsafe conditions prior to installing new plant and equipment.

“The BZ201 series is the latest in our full range of industrial socket testers, which perform some of the basic tests similar to standard 13A socket devices, but offer different pin configurations, voltage levels and three-phase checks.”

Socket testers are not an alternative to the full verification of wiring installations. However, as a first-line indicator, they are an essential tool for all maintenance teams.
