More than 90 Travis Perkins colleagues from Manchester and the Northwest region took part in a football tournament to raise money for Travis Perkins’ charity partner, Macmillan Cancer Support. Organised by Christopher Tivey, Branch Manager of Travis Perkins Radcliffe, the tournament saw them play against each other in a series of friendly matches.

On Sunday 25th of June, Chris and his colleagues started the play-offs at the Fives Soccer Centre Trafford in Manchester and raised £2,099.72 for Macmillan. The charity provides physical, financial and emotional support to those living with cancer in the UK, a topic close to Chris and his colleagues.

The event included a series of six-a-side, ten-minute matches leading up to a semi-final and then a final. The winning team that lifted the trophy was the Travis Perkins Urmston branch, finishing the tournament top of the table.

Christopher Tivey spoke about the charity football tournament, “I’m so proud to be working with a team of people so willing to give up their Sunday afternoon to raise money for Macmillan. We started this charity tournament last year and want to turn this into an annual event because cancer is a cause close to many of our hearts. We’re really proud of our fundraising efforts and want to say a big thank you to everyone who has donated and helped us in doing our bit to help.”

Sharon Cottam, Partnership Manager for Travis Perkins at Macmillan Cancer Support said: “We would like to extend our huge thanks to Travis Perkins and its colleagues for their incredible efforts to raise money for Macmillan. Right now, there are more than three million people living with cancer and that number is set to rise to four million by 2030, so these innovative fundraising events are enabling us to provide the resources we need to help people living with cancer. We are so grateful for your ongoing support.”

She continues, “It’s so great to see how many Travis Perkins colleagues are organising and taking part in these fantastic fundraising activities across the UK. We are constantly inspired by your passion and drive to fundraise, and the difference you are making to help support people living with cancer, and their families is why this partnership has worked well for so many years.”
