Klein Tools has scooped the title of Marketing Initiative of the Year 2017 at this year’s Electrical Industry Awards, for its ‘Buy Today, Win Today’ campaign.
Now in its 25th year, the Electrical Industry Awards recognises and celebrates the very best in products, people, businesses and projects in the UK electrical sector. Klein Tools was shortlisted in two categories at the Awards – including Trade Tool of the Year for its Pro Tool Bag with Light – but it was the Marketing Initiative of the Year Award where the company would bag the top prize.
Klein Tools’ winning marketing campaign, Buy Today, Win Today was devised by its European distributor partner Super Rod. Launched in October 2016, the campaign centred around the giveaway of Klein Tools’ prizes to every CEF customer spending over £50 on its products. Prizes included branded t-shirts, key rings, cooler bags, barbecues and blankets. The campaign created an uplift in Klein Tools sales for participating branches and gave customers an instant reward for buying Klein Tools.
The Buy Today Win Today campaign was supported by traditional advertising, social media and digital marketing, plus in-store promotional materials for participating branches.
The Electrical Industry Award judges said: “The Buy Today, Win Today campaign was so creatively and effectively delivered it drove footfall to wholesale branches and helped Klein Tools reinforce its brand’s strengths. Very powerful marketing.”
Malcolm Duncan from Klein Tools said: “We were delighted to win the Marketing Initiative title at this year’s Electrical Awards. The Buy Today, Win Today campaign was a real team effort from everyone at Klein Tools and as well as encouraging sales, it was a great way to give installers an instant thank you for purchasing our products. We would like to share this award with our wholesaler customers, whose enthusiasm helped to promote the initiative in branch and make it a runaway success.”
Klein Tools was presented with its award at a special black-tie gala dinner held at the Royal Garden Hotel, Kensington on Thursday 26 October.
