RDM Electrical and Mechanical Services has been awarded contracts by Vinci Construction to undertake works at Swansea University.
Two contracts have been awarded to RDM by Vinci Construction, which are worth over £5.5m to the Swansea-based company.
RDM will be providing full design and installation services for all the electrical and mechanical needs for the new The College, Swansea University academic building, which will be a new high-tech facility at the university’s Bay Campus. Design and installation services for new accommodation and associated areas will also be provided.
Works will include the design and installation of lighting, power, data, fire alarms, access controls and disabled alarms, and building management controls. Hot and cold water installations, firefighting and sprinkler systems, firefighting water distribution, centralised and smoke ventilation systems, and site-wide controls and integration, will also be provided by RDM.
The projects are part of Swansea University’s phase 2 developments of its ambitious Campus Development Programme and add to a number of projects RDM has undertaken on the university’s development.
Design works for the projects commenced during mid-2017, with installations starting on one project during November 2017, and the other this month (January 2018). The projects are planned to be completed at the end of August 2018.
Dave Kieft, director and co-owner of RDM, said: “We are very pleased to be continuing our working relationship with Vinci Construction and contributing to Swansea University’s impressive development programme. Being awarded these contracts demonstrates the continued growth of RDM’s position in the market, as well as stability for our largely local supply chain. Working closely with the developer and end user ensures stringent technical needs and tight programmes are met, which is something we highly value at RDM.”
