The Association of Electrical Wholesale Buyers (AWEBB) is ending the year on a high after welcoming five new “nationally recognised” members with a combined turnover exceeding £40 million.
The latest members to join AWEBB include Enfield-based AW Electrical, Salford-based H&S Electrical Wholesaler, West Sussex-based Quantum Electrical Distribution, West Midlands-based Mastertrade Supplies, and Buckinghamshire-headquartered Grant & Stone.
The five new members join over 80 other electrical wholesalers from across the UK, which collectively have a nationwide network of over 230 branches and a combined turnover of £440m.
It tops off a successful year for the progressive, ambitious and forward-thinking purchasing consortium, which earlier this year launched its five-year strategy setting out its ambitions to become the UK’s leading electrical purchasing consortium by 2025.
CEO of AWEBB Mark Lambert said he was “delighted” to welcome all five new companies to the consortium and was thrilled with the increased growth. He said: “We have been delighted to see the growth in AWEBB’s membership network this year and would like to welcome all five new members to the consortium.
“Each one is highly reputable and we look forward to working with them to strengthen their offering and national connections.
“Our members benefit significantly from our collective buying power, product and industry knowledge, training opportunities, national distribution centre, and our network of independent electrical wholesalers.
“We are sure that by working together, we can help these new members grow their businesses and provide their customers with an unrivalled service.”
After being with currently the largest independent electrical wholesale group in the UK for a number of years, Grant & Stone is one of AWEBB’s newest members. Darren House, managing director of Grant & Stone Electrical, said: “Joining AWEBB has been a breath of fresh air and we have already gained significantly in the short space of time we have been on board. The proactiveness of the team has been second to none, alongside the competitiveness of the deals we have been able to secure.
“In what has been a challenging year for many in terms of accessing stock, we have benefitted from having access to AWEBB’s Electrical Distribution Centre, allowing us to secure stock quickly for our customers.
“Like us, AWEBB has a family-focussed approach and despite its long history, it continues to be ambitious for the future, growing stronger and expanding year on year.
“As we look to embark on an aggressive growth strategy, where we will expand our network organically and through acquisitions, we are confident that AWEBB are the perfect partners and we look forward to working with them for mutual success.”
Established in 1976, AWEBB is an independent electrical purchasing consortium comprising of ECD, its centralised warehouse owned by and exclusively for members, and ElectraCentre its national framework of AWEBB branches.
