  • Fleets are one of the largest consumers of overall on the road EV charging
  • Allstar identifies the need for Charge Point Operators (CPO) to reward fleet charging volume by keeping charging costs down
  • Be.EV becomes the first CPO to work with Allstar to bring targeted cost saving benefits to its customers

As fleets drive growth in the UK new electric vehicle (EV) market for the second year in a row, according to the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT), Allstar, one of the UK’s leading EV, fuel and business expense payment companies, today announces a strategic approach to reward fleets charging on the road to fuel future growth and adoption.

Allstar asks charge point operators (CPOs) to recognise the significant role fleets play in utilising their networks, and the importance this will have as fleets increasingly move to EVs. Fleets are one of the largest consumers of on the road charging, and will become price-sensitive as networks increase in numbers and reliability. Therefore, CPOs should continue to support and encourage this adoption by offering enhanced networks, ultra-rapid charging, and cost effective pricing as the 2030 deadline for banning new petrol- and diesel-only vehicle sales races ever closer, which underscores the need and urgency for businesses to adopt EVs.

Allstar recognises this and is powering the electric transition with a payment solution that does it all: fuel, electric charging, home charging and more, supporting fleets at every stage of transition. Providing customers with the UK’s largest and fastest electric charging payment network for businesses, which encompasses more than 22,000 locations nationwide, including more than 59,000 chargers, Allstar’s network continues to grow at pace. Ensuring drivers get back on the road as quickly as possible, 86% of its EV charging network is fast, rapid and ultra-rapid.

As the UK’s charging networks grow in both numbers and charge points, as well as increasing reliability and speed, fleets are becoming more price sensitive. That’s why, today, Allstar has bolstered its partnership with Be.EV, the UK’s 4th top-rated large rapid/ultra-rapid EV charging network in the UK (as voted by EV drivers). Allstar and Be.EV are expanding their existing relationship to offer fleets using Allstar Chargepass* an exclusive 10% discount for three months**. With the offer, businesses are set to make a saving, supporting their migration to EVs across their fleets.

A valued partner, Be.EV’s growing national network includes over 700 EV charge points across more than 200 locations around the UK. The discount applies to Be.EV’s standard price (75p per kWh for ultra-rapid charging), to become 67.5p per kWh. According to Allstar’s latest AllCosts report, the average price of charging in public currently stands at 78p per kWh, so this is a significant saving for fleets.

The discount is available across the Be.EV network of charge points for Allstar Chargepass** customers, the UK’s only payment solution that allows fleet and business EVs to be charged at home and on the road. Chargepass supports mixed fleets (electric and fuel), giving businesses ultimate flexibility at a time of change across their total fuel and charging expense.

Tom Rowlands, Corpay’s Managing Director of Global EV Solutions said: “Fleets are under mounting pressure ahead of the 2030 ban of new ICE vehicles, not to mention the economic pressures felt universally. That’s why it was important for us to recognise that cost of charging is an increasingly important factor for fleets in choosing their charge points, and to support them as much as possible.

Asif Ghafoor, CEO at Be.EV commented: “We’re so happy to bolster our partnership with Allstar customers to give them an exclusive discount to the UK’s 4th top-rated rapid/ultra-rapid charging network in the UK.

“Fleet managers and drivers deserve to have simple charging nationwide. Businesses need their charging to be fast and simple to use. We know from our community of over 43,000 members that location is the most important thing for fleet drivers. That’s why our sites are all selected with a comprehensive five-step criteria that means they’re in the most convenient locations possible for fleet drivers.

“Expanding our relationship with Allstar was an obvious decision to reach fleet drivers. It’s not the first time we’ve been able to work together in this way, and I’m confident it won’t be the last.”

Tom Rowlands added: “We have a long-standing relationship with Be.EV as the first charge point operator to work with Allstar in this way to bring such a benefit to customers. We are thrilled to enhance our partnership to provide a much-needed cost saving for customers across their network and look forward to supporting fleets in this way in the future.”
